It provides information and assurances about the health and safety systems and competence of the Organisations who have been CHAS assessed or accredited.

National qualification for damp and timber remedial work

Accurate diagnosis of damp and timber problems in buildings is essential to ensure appropriate remedies without unnecessary use of chemicals and undue expense. The PCA has always promoted training for surveyors and two separate qualifications were developed to assess surveyors' knowledge and competence in timber and damp diagnosis. The Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatment (CSRT) is a nationally recognised professional qualification.

overing diagnosis and specification of works for dampness, as well as decay and insect attack of timber, the examination also includes an assessment of the candidate's knowledge of relevant health, safety and legal legislation. Companies within the Damp-proofing or Timber Preservation sector wishing to apply for membership of the PCA must have, or employ, CSRT qualified surveyors in order to be eligible for membership.
